Khalm Veterans PTSD Support Group

KHALM Veterans

Inspired by Mark Wheeler, and his research Phd focusing on Military Veterans and the potential benefit of group outdoor activities we have formed a Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Support Group named KHALM Veterans. We believe that by aligning as one organisation will strengthen our approach to support Mark with his studies.

Focus Areas

We will be focusing on three areas and designing training activities that will be suited for people dealing with PTSD.

The Group

Mark Wheeler - PTSD ESSEX

Born in London and now residing in Colchester in Essex I am a family man with a vast array of experience in helping others who are experiencing the difficulties of not only Post-Traumatic Stress (PTSD) but also many other forms of mental distress. On attaining a first class pass in a BA Hons in counselling studies degree I have continued to train and achieve at academic level. I have now passed an MSc in Psychology at the University of Essex and I am currently working part time on my research PhD, with the focus being PTSD in military veterans and the potential benefit of group outdoor activities. The rest of the time I work as a High Intensity Psychological Therapist within the local NHS mental health provision. Whilst staying true to my core beliefs of working from a person centred base I have increased my awareness and abilities within other areas of therapeutic interactions.I am a fully accredited Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Europe practitioner whilst also being an accredited couple therapy for depression IAPT practitioner. I am also currently studying for a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) at the University of East Anglia.

Gary Stockton - Komankra Ltd

It is thanks to Mark Wheeler that our partners, friends and I have become involved with PTSD support.  I initially networked in France with my Brother Mark Stockton, MD of Aquaculture Equip Ltd, to see if any fisheries would support the Phd study that Mark Wheeler has been doing over the last 6 years. From there we have embraced this and we have some fantastic projects scheduled for next year, one being a BBC documentary to showcase Marks fantastic work. Being a Veteran and keen Carp Angler it was an easy choice for me to support such a great project.

Pete Allsopp - Hostile Risk Management Ltd

Now, this guy is amazing!  Pete has offered his support in designing Cyber, Intelligence and Integrated Security courses fit for individuals dealing with PTSD.  He is only in second gear at the moment and he has already sponsored Lee Carter, Former Military and UK Heavyweight boxer to support him prior to his next TV fight.  Lee has just named HRM and Komankra as his official Agents and Promoters.  Working behind the scenes with his influential contacts and networks Pete is the backbone in driving this project forward to the next level.  When this man is on a mission, then there is no stopping him which is becoming infectious amongst the group.

John Cooper QC

How Lucky Are We?

We are extremely pleased to announce that Mr John Cooper (QC) who is a renowned UK barrister and animal conservationist has kindly offered his support to our PTSD projects.  John Gordon Cooper QC is a British barrister specialising in human rights and criminal law. He is also a broadcaster and politician. He is a member of the Bar of England and Wales, where he practices with 25 Bedford Row, and the Australian Bar. He has been chairman of the League Against Cruel Sports since 1996, and he was appointed honorary professor of law at Cardiff University in 2011.  On behalf of Komankra and our partners we thank John for his kind support and now look forward to making a difference.

Collin Singer - Wagtail UK Ltd

Collin is a Veteran and now runs his own successful business that provides specialist dog services and training courses.  Collin has kindly offered his support in our PTSD projects, we are confident that his knowledge and quality training courses will add value to our group and Veterans.
